POSITION: Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) (Probationary Appointment)SALARY: Per RAA ContractSTART DATE: February 2023SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: - Set a vision for, develop, and manage high quality Special Education and PPS programs - Build procedures and systems to ensure highly effective and compliant programming that closes the gap for our students with disabilities - Coach instructional leaders to support teachers in ensuring access to grade-level curriculum for all students with disabilities - Hold school leaders accountable to delivering high quality Special Education programming through coaching, feedback, co-planning, and monitoring visits - Design and facilitate professional development centrally and at schools to support development of Special Education Services- Design effective Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) programs at all schools, monitor implementation, and support as needed - Work with school advocates, legal affairs teams, SEPTA (Special Education Parent Teacher Association) to support students with special needsQUALIFICATIONS:- Leadership experience in Special Education with evidence of strong student outcomes with extensive knowledge of special education regulations Part 200, CSE, CPSE, IDEA, and best instructional practices. - A minimum of 10 years teaching in special education - Experience serving as special education chair and/or administrator - Visible leader with time spent in schools for a deep understanding of students, programs and building relationships- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to form trusting relationships with all stakeholdersREQUIREMENTS: - Valid NYS School District Leader Certification- Valid NYS Students with Disabilities/Special Education Certification
