Department(s) - Central Administration Reports to - Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction and the Superintendent of Schools Terms of Employment: 12-month employee Salary, Terms and Conditions as per RAA Contract Start date on or about July 1, 2026 Performance Responsibilities: The Director of Secondary Education and Career & Technical Education (CTE) is a district-level position that reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction and the Superintendent of Schools. The Director shall have general responsibility for all aspects of the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of secondary education curriculum and CTE programs. S/he will supervise all secondary educational and CTE programs and services, and work closely with building administrators, department coordinators, and CTE program partners to implement and expand program offerings aligned with both academic standards and workforce development goals. Qualifications: State Education Department Certification – SDA or SDL Minimum of five years’ administrative experience, with Central Office level work preferred Demonstrated use of data and research focused on improving student achievement and post-secondary outcomes Knowledge and effective use of technology in instruction, management, and communication Demonstrates experience in building partnerships and resources and a willingness to work with various community, industry, and workforce partners Strong and collaborative leadership with an honest, transparent, and inclusive style that supports high student outcomes and educational excellence Leverages deep knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment to improve student learning across all program areas Knowledge about the implementation and supervision of the APPR process Knowledge of grants and grant writing Knowledge and understanding of building master schedules, including the integration of CTE course offerings Extensive knowledge of secondary programs, including academic and CTE course sequences and credentialing pathways Extensive knowledge of differentiated instruction and instructional strategies applicable across academic and CTE settings Knowledge of and experience with Career & Technical Education programs, including CTE pathways, industry certifications, BOCES partnerships, and Perkins V compliance Familiarity with CTE program approval processes through the New York State Education Department Experience developing and sustaining business and community partnerships that support CTE program quality and student career readiness Ability to effectively manage time and fiscal resources, including CTE grant funding (e.g., Perkins V, workforce development grants) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Willingness to learn and grow professionally.
