Responsibilities:Prepares, maintains and interprets health records to school authorities, teachers and parents on health and hygiene problem, such as reasons for absenteeismAdministers first aid and emergency treatment to students and employeesArranges to transport sick or injured students or employees to hospitals, home, or a dentist or doctor’s office in cases of emergencyPerforms visual and auditory screening examinations of studentsAssists the school physician and assists in school immunization clinicsInspects the school plant and reports on general safety and sanitary conditionsOrders, inventories and oversees first aid and related supplies and equipmentCoordinate, store, and oversee the administration of student medications as requiredConsults staff members concerning a variety of health factors related to nonattendance, communicable disease and the general health of studentsPerforms other duties as may be assigned by the administrationQUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a school of nursing approved by the New York State Education Department from a course qualified for Registered Professional Nurse Must possess a license issued by NYS to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse Good knowledge of nursing principles and techniques Working knowledge of material medica, dietetics, sanitation and personal hygiene Ability to efficiently utilize software programs including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel Ability to understand and follow technical, oral and written instructions Ability to keep records, make reports and plan Ability to get along well with students, teachers, parents and others Ability to carry out successfully the therapeutic measures prescribed Good observation, mental alertness, firmness, initiative, cheerfulness, patience, emotional stability, sympathetic attitude toward the sick, and good moral characterThe Red Creek Central School District is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against any employee or application for employment on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability or age, religion or creed, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, military status, genetic status, marital status, domestic violence status, criminal arrest or conviction record, or any other basis prohibited by state or federal nondiscrimination laws.
