Job Summary:The library media specialist is responsible for developing library media programming for grades UPK-5 meeting the criteria of NYS standards in informational literacy, computer science and digital fluency standards. The library media specialist works collaboratively with peers to ensure instructional materials for student projects are accessible. The library media specialist is responsible for ensuring equitable access to enriching and engaging learning experiences for students. Appointment:Appointment will be made by the Superintendent of Schools. This will be a tenure track position. Appointed teacher will accrue time toward tenure and seniority. Evaluation:Per the RCTA contract the Library Media Specialist will be evaluated using the Danielson Framework for Teaching according to the district-approved APPR agreement. Requirements:NYS Fingerprint ClearanceNYS Certification in school librarianQualifications: Experience or willingness to learn strategies that support creating a learning environment that meets the academic, social, and emotional needs of students. Experience in evaluating and selecting print and digital resources Communication skills, including the ability to proactively collaborate with students and staff Knowledge of instructional methods and strategies Understanding of student growth and development Leadership, organizational and budget management skills Familiarity with state standards for computer science and digital fluency, informational literacyDuties and Responsibilities: Develop and maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment that is safe and conducive to student learning Develop and implement learning experiences that engage students aligned to NYS learning state standards Develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships Effectively communicate lesson goals and objectives to students Work collaboratively with peers to plan student learning experiences Work collaboratively with peers to establish grade level criteria of expected outcomes Manage media resources Create and incorporate STEM opportunities for students Any other duties as assigned by supervisor
