Basic Functions:The Dean of Students/Athletic Director is a twelve-month assignment. The person assigned to this position shall be responsible to the Superintendent of Schools. (S)he shall also assume other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Superintendent of Schools. Preferred Qualifications:New York Certification in Administration and/or Supervision (or eligible to be certified).Evidence of successful classroom teaching experience.High energy level, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.High level of communication skills, both oral and written.Demonstrate competence in educational leadership.Other qualifications as deemed necessary by the Board of Education. Duties and Responsibilities: Athletic Director Supervise and coordinate extra-curricular activities according to State regulations and supporting policy approved by the Board of Education.Schedule extra-curricular events and arrange transportation for such activities.Represent the district in association and league affairs.Recruit and recommend coaches for appointment.Evaluate coaches’ performance and provide appropriate training.Prepare and administer athletic budget.Maintain an up-to-date inventory of equipment and supplies.Arrange for releases to news media to promote the district’s athletic programs.Provide communication to parents relative to student/athlete expectations.Encourage sportsmanship throughout the school.Encourage student participation in athletics through a philosophy emphasizing involvement and development of athletes. Duties and Responsibilities: Dean of Students Staff Recruitment and DevelopmentAssist the District with responsibility for new teacher orientation program.B. Assist the District with staff recruitment and evaluation. Public RelationsSubmit news articles for regular publication in the local newspaper.Produce articles for the district newsletter.Demonstrate a willingness to become involved in community activities. PupilsAssist in the development of assembly programs.Assist in the development of special programs.Assist in any other pupil needs as assigned by the Superintendent. Student Activity ProgramsShare the supervision responsibility of after-school activities as needed. MiscellaneousA. Responsible for Individualized Home Instruction Plan (IHIP) per Commissioner’s Regulations Part 100.10.Assume responsibility of a building principal in his/her absence.Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent.Serve as a member of the Administrative Council.
