We are looking for a dedicated Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher who will ensure that physical education programs are developed and implemented in accordance with IEP goals, behavioral principles, QSAC Curriculum and the individual needs of every student.**We are also hiring for our Whitestone Day School**Assessments, Curriculum & Data CollectionComplete formal and informal motor assessments of each studentDevelop each student’s physical education curriculum in conjunction with the classroom teaching clinical teamWrite IEP goals, objectives and updates in accordance with official mandatesCollect daily/weekly data on student’s progressImplement behavior management strategies and tactics in accordance with each child’s behavior management plan and school policyMaintain neat and accurate records, equipment and gym space.Promote generalization of individually learned skills both in and out of the school environmentCommunication & TrainingParticipate in Clinical/Parent meetings as neededConduct physical education presentations and attend any required student/staff meetingsInteract with parents, college interns, professionals other interested partiesConfer regularly with the Director or designee on the progress of the Adapted Physical Education ProgramAttend and participate in staff meetings and in-service trainingsMaintain participant/family confidentialityEnsure health, safety & welfare of individualsQualification & Work Experience 1-2 years of hands-on PE experience highly preferredNew York State Certification as a Physical Education TeacherB.A. or MA Degree in Adapted Physical Education/Physical Education requiredExperience in ABA preferred but not requiredAble to teach diverse students with varied interests and different physical abilitiesProven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writingBenefitsQSAC benefits are terrific and go beyond health and retirement!
