Located in Putnam County, NY, one hour north of NYC, the Putnam Valley Central School District is a public school community committed to the personal growth and wellness of every student. We are currently seeking to fill the following anticipated position for the remainder of the 2023-2024 year:Interim Director of Business AdministrationDecember 4, 2023 through June 30, 2024.The Director of Business Administration manages all financial operations in the business office and reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools. The Director of Business Administration works collaboratively with the Superintendent of Schools and all department directors and building leaders to develop the school budget, implement student programs, and maintain fiscal management over district expenditures.The Director of Business Administration must work collaboratively with staff and community stakeholders. A successful candidate will bring new ideas and creative solutions to the table while engaging all constituents. In addition to business management, the Director of Business Administration should possess a strong concentration in organizational leadership, planning, and allocating of resources. Individuals should foster a collaborative work environment, support team efforts, and implement best practices to sustain community support and support academic programs. Oversees a comprehensive fiscal planning process encompassing the operating budget and grants to develop a structurally balanced and prudent annual budget.Prepares, presents, and collaborates with the Superintendent to develop the annual budget for the Board’s final consideration.Prepares for budget meetings to inform the community at large about the school budget.Maintains a long-range financial plan to help the district forecast and maintain a multi-year financial outlook.Designs and maintains an equitable fiscal infrastructure with emphasis on supporting the success of all departments.Develops and implements a school-based budgeting philosophy and framework.Assists all departments in budget development, monitoring, and management, including maintenance of financial records and controls.Monitors ongoing revenue and expenditures.Oversees all accounting records, financial transactions, and the filing of state reimbursement claims, monitoring of grants, and special revenue funds.Manages and supervises the business office personnel and oversees the food service contractor to help ensure adherence to child nutrition laws and audits.Participates with other leaders in the district to develop district policies and plans and assists in advising district leaders and others of the financial, procedural, and related implications of programs and proposed changes in laws, rules, policies, and procedures.Conducts a compensation analysis, analyzing the fiscal impact of proposed compensation changes, and advising leadership on financially related issues related to labor negotiations.Maintains a knowledge of current and proposed state and federal laws governing the control and distribution of school district finances.Confers with members of the New York State Department of Education, and other organizations, regarding district transparency reporting and fiscal standing.Conducts presentations related to public school finances to stakeholders as needed.Ensures that the district is following timely submission deadlines to the New York State Department of Education and other regulatory bodies.Collaborates with administrators, architects, attorneys, and financial advisors in planning, contracting, and constructing new facilities and/or capital improvement projects.Act as the Purchasing Agent and is responsible for establishing procedures for the acquisition of supplies, services, and equipment.Supervises business office staff involved in bookkeeping, payroll and benefits, cost analysis, and school property management.Please submit a letter of interest, resume and copy of NYS Certification on OLAS address to: Dr. Jeremy Luft, Superintendent of SchoolsPutnam Valley Central School District171 Oscawana Lake RoadPutnam Valley, NY 10579Apply by November 24, 2023.
