NOTICE OF POSITIONPOSITION:The Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Gregory Mott, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of:ITINERANT SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER ANTICIPATED VACANCYPOUGHKEEPSIE CITY SCHOOL DISTRICTQUALIFICATIONS:New York State in Student with Disabilities B-2, 1-6, 7-12, or Special Education K-12JOB SUMMARY:Position requires the planning, organization and implementation of the appropriate instructional program to address the learning and case management needs of students with disabilities who are on home-based programs due to long-term medical needs, Committee on Special Education placement, or interim alternative educational placements at home. The position requires travel to and from student homes and other public locations to provide instructional services. Through student-centered effective and transformational leadership, school and community engagement, and an unrelenting pursuit to achieve greater school outcomes for children, the Poughkeepsie City Schools is focused on developing and growing greater access, equity, opportunity, and quality across PCSD.Primary duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following:Establishes and implements instructional activities designed to be provided to students at home or other public location that meet the students' individual goals/objectives as outlined in the students' Individual Education Plan (IEP)Provides academic instruction to students based on NYSED standards associated with current grade level and/or course requirements and/or alternative assessment standardsMaintains records of student attendance and student progress in all areas, and completes all required reporting of grades, IEP goal progress, behavior management required for report cards and IEP development/completion as required by laws and district policiesFacilitates active learning experiences for students with varied needs, including those who require specific behavioral management strategies, communication supports, and physical assistance due to deficits in fine and gross motor skillsUses relevant technology to support instruction and learningMaintains timely written and oral communication with parents, staff and other school personnel, other community agenciesManages student behavior and maintains discipline using positive behavioral supports and interventions in accordance with school and district rules and proceduresPerforms other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Office for Students with ExceptionalitiesAPPOINTMENT:Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service.
