POSITION: The Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Eric Jay Rosser, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of: BUSINESS TEACHER ANTICIPATEDPOUGHKEEPSIE MIDDLE SCHOOL QUALIFICATIONS: New York State Certification required in the content area; Graduate of a four-year regionally accredited college or a higher institution approved by the New York State Education Department; Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators; Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing with faculty, administrators, and members of the team; Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through; Positive attitude, flexible approach, and a collaborative team player; Preferred: strong knowledge of current business practices and procedures; ? Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning and leadership skills; Must be able to serve as a positive role model for young adults. RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties of the middle school business teacher will include, but are not exclusively limited to, the following: Review and update the Business class curriculum as needed using current workforce/career trend information; Provide support to students as they learn and grow, helping them prepare academically and socially for the transition to high school; Remain current on best practices regarding the teaching and learning process, including differentiation for students with disabilities and ENL students; Able to utilize UDL design to address all learners and provide access to content; Understanding of Culturally Responsive Teaching Practices to address the needs of students; Attends a variety of meetings, workshops, conferences, etc, for the purpose of receiving and conveying information related to business concepts and current trends in industry; Conducts a variety of supporting activities for the purpose of providing information regarding the business program and/or recognizing participants’ accomplishments; Develops and shares business strategies/plans for the purpose of analyzing and discussing them with students; Work with local businesses and entrepreneurs to build a monthly calendar of activities for the program including guest speakers, class trips, and other student centered activities; Instructs students for the purpose of promoting individual growth in business and marketing skills, teamwork, and collaboration; Maintains a variety of records (e.g. signed permission forms, emergency information schedules, equipment inventories, sales records, student grades, student attendance, etc.) for the purpose of complying with district and/or report scores and strategies to the PCSD public media; Promotes the middle school business program through a variety of activities (e.g. conducts informational clinics, information on upcoming events, attends community meetings, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, assistance and/or direction; Keeps the Principal informed when issues arise that impact the business program (e.g. liability concerns, parent concerns, etc.); Provides appropriate and prudent supervision for all students involved in the program; Candidates should possess strong skills in a variety of Business Entrepreneurship and Marketing areas; Maintains high standards of moral and ethical business practices. APPOINTMENT: Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be conducted where appropriate.
