Must be an instructional leader and well versed in teaching and learning theories. New York State Certification as a School Social Worker. Must have at least five (5) years of successful school district experience. Expertise in Technology and computer based platforms. Must have strong interpersonal skills. Must have knowledge of Restorative practices. Has experience with Infinite Campus or other SIS Platforms. Through student-centered effective and transformationalleadership, school and community engagement, and an unrelenting pursuit to achieve greater school outcomes forchildren, the Poughkeepsie City Schools is focused on developing and growing greater access, equity, opportunity,and quality across PCSD.Under the direction of the Building Principal, the Assistant Principal of School Climate & Culture will plan,implement, supervise, coordinate and evaluate student conduct, attendance, and at-risk behavior that mayinterfere with student success.RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs that address the needsof at-risk students. Performs a variety of administrative duties to assist the Principal in managing the school culture and climate. Assists the Principal in providing restorative practices for students when necessary. Supervises and evaluates the performance of designated certificated and/or classified personnel; assignsduties to faculty and staff as appropriate to meet school objectives; assists with the recruiting, interviewing,and selection of new faculty and staff. Develops and administers disciplinary procedures in accordance with district policies and state laws; receivesreferrals and confers with students, parents, teachers, community agencies, and law enforcement; respondsto and resolves parent, student, and staff concerns and complaints; serves on discipline or expulsion panelsas assigned. Supervises students on campus before and after school; monitors students during lunch, recess, passingperiods, and other activities; instructs students in appropriate behavior; disciplines students in accordancewith established guidelines. Monitors and organizes attendance functions; prepares letters, calls parents, and attends meetings asneeded, regarding absent or tardy students; provides leadership for attendance improvement efforts. Provides direction to a variety of faculty, staff, and student programs and services; participates in formal andinformal classroom visitations and observations; provides recommendations and suggestions forimprovement as appropriate. Participates as needed in Individual Educational Plan meetings. Liaison to the after school program in collaboration with school staff and/or personnel from outside agencies. Liaison to student government, extracurricular activities, the student athletics program, and other competitiveor performance programs and events. Monitors activities, including evening activities, as assigned. Coordinates with external partners to plan and carry out the school’s student activities. Oversees the school building’s safety and security team, MTSS/PBIS, behavioral specialists, and culture andclimate counselors. Develops restorative practices protocol building wide, in collaboration with other school based departments. Additional duties as assigned by the Building Principal.APPOINTMENT:Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent followingassessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service.
