ANTICIPATED OPENING (2026-2027) Director of Physical Education, Health, Athletics and Recreation (12-Month Work Year) Salary: $180,000-$195,000 Position Summary: The Director of Physical Education, Health, Athletics and Recreation provides leadership, supervision, and coordination for the District’s physical education, health education, interscholastic athletics, coaching staff, athletic coordinators, and recreational programs. The Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with New York State Education Department regulations and Section VIII/NYSPHSAA guidelines; developing and evaluating curriculum and programs; supervising and evaluating staff, coaches, and athletic coordinators; managing budgets, scheduling, transportation, and facilities; and promoting student wellness, safety, sportsmanship, and achievement through comprehensive educational and athletic opportunities. The position works collaboratively with administrators, faculty, students, parents, booster organizations, and community groups to foster a positive, inclusive, and student-centered environment that supports academic, physical, and social-emotional growth while maintaining a strong and competitive athletic program. Qualifications: - New York State School District Administrator (SDA) certification or eligibility required. - New York State certification in Physical Education and/or Health required. - Master’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, Athletic Administration, Educational Leadership, or a related field required; advanced graduate study preferred. - Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience in Physical Education and/or Health Education. - Successful administrative experience in athletics, physical education, or related programs preferred. - Demonstrated knowledge of: - NYSED regulations and curriculum requirements for Physical Education and Health - Interscholastic athletics and Section VIII/NYSPHSAA regulations - Athletic program administration, scheduling, budgeting, and facilities management - Student wellness, safety, and risk management practices - Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. - Experience supervising staff, coordinating programs, and working collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and community organizations. - Demonstrated ability to promote equity, sportsmanship, student wellness, and positive school culture. - CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
