ANTICIPATED OPENING: 2026-2027 ELEMENTARY ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL (PROBATIONARY) The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District is seeking a dynamic, student-centered, and collaborative educational leader to serve as an Elementary Assistant Principal. About Our District: Located in Nassau County on Long Island, the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District serves a diverse and high- achieving community committed to educational excellence. Our elementary schools provide a nurturing environment that supports academic growth, character development, and the social-emotional well-being of all students. Position Overview: The Assistant Principal will support the Principal in providing instructional leadership, fostering a positive school climate and managing daily operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, innovation, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities: - Assist in the implementation and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs. - Support data-informed instructional planning and professional development. - Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment. - Oversee student discipline and behavior management systems. - Collaborate with teachers, staff, families, and the broader school community. - Support supervision and evaluation of faculty and staff. - Contribute to school-wide initiatives and advancement of district goals. - Ensure compliance with district policies and state regulations. - Lead and participate in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of all learners. Required Qualifications: - Valid New York State School Building Leader (SBL) certification or equivalent. - A minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience, preferably at the elementary level. - Demonstrated leadership experience in a school-based or administrative role. - Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. - Proven ability to foster a respectful and inclusive school culture. - Knowledge of instructional best practices, data analysis, and student supports. - Knowledge of CSE procedures and full continuum of special education services, PreK-4th grade. - Knowledge and experience with CPI practices. - Experience in ABA and special class practices and procedures.
