ANTICIPATED OPENING FOR THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR Music Teacher- General Music & Chorus, Middle School-Probationary The Plainview-Old Bethpage Department of Music & Performing Arts seeks a highly dedicated and collaborative individual to join the music staff for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will provide an opportunity to engage students through their music classes, specifically the band program, and foster a positive environment while maintaining a culturally responsive disposition. Responsibilities: - General Music and/or Studio Music Class (Music Technology) for Grades 5 through 8 - 5 th and 6 th Grade Chorus - 7 th and 8 th Grade Chorus - A Cappella Experience preferred but not required. Must be willing to learn. - Basic Proficiency on Piano (NYSSMA Level 2-3 preferred, but not required) - Working directly with the Director of Music & Performing Arts for initiatives and attending required meetings. - Working with building administration for special events as per request. - Preparing Students for NYSSMA - Preparing Students for All-County - Knowledge of Vocal Pedagogy for students, especially with changing voices - Basic Proficiency in Music Technology and Subscriptions (SoundTrap, Flat.io, Sight Reading Factory) - Understanding of educating students with special needs - Create lessons aligned with the New York State Standards for the Arts revolving around Performing, Creating, Responding, and Analyzing. - Create a positive and engaging, and culturally responsive classroom. Requirements: - Must have a current and active NYS Department of Education Certificate in Music K-12. - Excellent communication and organizational skills. Location: H.B.
