ANTICIPATED OPENING FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEARMUSIC TEACHER K-4 GENERAL MUSIC & CHORUS (LEAVE REPLACEMENT)The Plainview-Old Bethpage Department of Music & Performing Arts seeks a highly dedicated and collaborative individual to join the music staff for the 2025-2026 school year. This position will provide an opportunity to engage students through their music classes and foster a positive environment while maintaining a culturally responsive disposition. This position will also support General Music Classes at the Middle School Level, pending building needs. Responsibilities: - General Music Classes for Grades K-4.- 4th Grade Chorus with preparation Concerts.- Working directly with the Director of Music & Performing Arts for initiatives and attending required meetings.- Working with building administration for special events as per request.- Preparing Students for NYSSMA for Voice. - Excellent Vocal Pedagogy.- Excellent Piano Skills, NYSSMA Level 4 and higher.- Excellent Guitar Skills are not necessary, but candidates with a background in guitar will be strongly considered.- Knowledge of classroom instruments (i.e.: Ukelele, Orff Instruments).- Knowledge of Elementary Choral Literature.- Create lessons aligned with the New York State Standards for the Arts revolving around Performing, Creating, Responding, and Analyzing.- Create a positive and engaging, and culturally responsive classroom.- Understanding of integrative music technology (such as Sight-Reading Factory)Requirements: - Must have a current and active NYS Department of Education Certificate in Music K-12.- Excellent communication and organizational skills.Locations: - Pasadena Elementary School (.9 FTE)- Stratford Road Elementary School (.1 FTE)Effective Dates: August 27, 2025-December 4, 2025Salary: As Per ContractDeadline: Monday, May 12, 2025
