ANTICIPATED OPENING FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEARMUSIC TEACHER - BAND (PROBATIONARY)The Plainview-Old Bethpage Department of Music & Performing Arts seeks a highly dedicated and collaborative individual to join the music staff for the 2025-2026 school year. This position will provide an opportunity to engage students through their music classes, specifically the band program, and foster a positive environment while maintaining a culturally responsive disposition. Responsibilities: - Instrumental lessons for Grades K-4 at Old Bethpage and Stratford Road Elementary Schools.- 4th Grade band rehearsals with preparation for school events and concerts.- Working directly with the Director of Music & Performing Arts for initiatives and attending required meetings.- Working with building administration for special events as per request.- Preparing Students for NYSSMA. - Excellent Multi-Instrumental Skills.- Major instrument NYSSMA Level 6/All-State or Higher.- Secondary instruments, NYSSMA Level 2 of Higher.- Knowledge of Elementary Band and Instrumental Literature.- Basic knowledge of instrumental repairs is preferred but not required.- Scheduling a rotating lesson schedule for the instrumental program in each school.- Create lessons aligned with the New York State Standards for the Arts revolving around Performing, Creating, Responding, and Analyzing. - Create a positive and engaging, and culturally responsive classroom.- Understanding of integrative music technology (such as Sight-Reading Factory)Requirements: - Must have a current and active NYS Department of Education Certificate in Music K-12.- Excellent communication and organizational skills.Locations: - Stratford Road Elementary School - Old Bethpage Elementary ScholEffective Date: August 27, 2025Salary: As Per ContractDeadline: Monday, May 12, 2025
