ANTICIPATED OPENING: DIRECTOR OF SCIENCE, RESEARCH & TECHNOLOGYThe Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School district is seeking a visionary and transformational leader to serve as the Director of Science, Research & Technology effective July 1, 2025. This is a district-level leadership position. This administrator is part of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Association of Administrators, working an 11-month position that follows the teachers’ calendar.Responsibilities: - Provide leadership for science, research and technology teachers, K-12 in supporting creating innovative lessons rooted in the Next Generation Science Standards, specifically the New York State Science Learning Standards- Supervise K-12 curriculum, instruction and assessments for the science, research and technology programs - Design and deliver professional development that supports student growth and engagement- Support elementary program in alignment with NYS Grade 5 and 8 assessments- Coordinate the District’s highly-successful research program- Create connections between the District’s middle-level technology offerings and its high school pathways- Observe teachers K-12, providing thoughtful feedback aligned with the Danielson Framework for Teaching Rubric- Management of budgeting and purchasing for all departments- Oversee club advisors related to programming such as Robotics, Science Olympiad, TV Studios, etc.Key Qualifications: - Intimate knowledge of NYSSLS standards and shifts in Regents models, including phenomenon-based 3D instruction, and the development of cluster assessments- Experience with research programs and opportunities such as Regeneration, ISEF, FIRST, and BASH- Ability to manage multiple programs and create new experiences for the District’s students- Knowledge of the K-8 elementary program, including investigations timeline and assessmentsRequirements: - Must have a current NYS DOE Certification in Administration (SDA, SDL)- New York State Science Certification- Minimum 5-years science teaching experience- Leadership experience as an administrator preferred- Experience with classroom observations- Curriculum writing experience- Working knowledge of digital tools for instruction, data analysis, and communicationDeadlne to Apply: Friday, February 28, 2025
