Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES is seeking candidates for Pre-Teaching Paid Apprenticeships beginning in September in local public school districts. Apprenticeships are open to undergraduate students anticipating a May 2026 graduation or graduate students at any place in their degree program. Candidates will commit to apprenticing for one, two, three, or four days per week but must be available for at least two days if they are also in need of fieldwork hours for their academic program. Candidates will be assigned a home base classroom for the month of September, with days in this placement being unpaid. Beginning in October, candidates will be assigned to substitute for compensation of $105.00 per day for 1-4 days per week depending on their availability.Duties: Work one, two, three, or four days per week in a public school setting while receiving on-the-job training and support. Applicants must be available for one full day of in-person training at PNW BOCES on August 25th and have fingerprints cleared through the New York State Department of Education prior to starting.Positions are filled on a rolling basis, so early applications are encouraged for serious candidates.
