Duties: The Per Diem Bilingual Psychological Evaluator works on a per diem basis for the Guidance & Child Study Center at Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES. The Bilingual Psychologist uses their skills as an evaluator to perform assessments for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) students that reflect an integration of theory, research and recommended best practices. The goal is to equip school professionals with the knowledge necessary to determine whether a CLD student’s academic learning difficulties are influenced by second language acquisition, the acculturation process, socioeconomic background, instructional experiences, or a disabling condition.The bilingual practitioner needs to:be knowledgeable about, and familiar with the examinee’s culture and language;have knowledge about how culture and language differences affect performance as well as training and education in non-discriminatory assessment;perform bilingual psycho-educational assessments, testing, and evaluation addressing cognitive, academic, and behavioral concerns;complete necessary documentation/reports in an accurate and timely manner;communicate with staff from the Guidance and Child Study Center ensure all evaluations are completed according to relevant ethical and professional standards of care.Qualifications: Certified as a NYS School Psychologist (Bilingual Extension)Characteristics Desired: Must demonstrate a positive, proactive attitude with a strong commitment to the PNW BOCES core value of creating pathways to success for every student.
