Duties: Putnam|Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates an opening for a dually-certified Special Educator that is innovative and motivated to teach small classes of Math for grades 9–12. This position is a full time, 10-month, tenure track position. The ideal candidate will have the skills and experience to:Teach students with various learning and social/emotional needs on track to graduate with NYS Regents diplomas;Use creative solutions to address the academic and social/emotional needs of at-risk students;Respond effectively to students with gaps in their prior learning;Work effectively as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team to facilitate student successQualifications: Must hold valid New York State certifications in Mathematics 7-12 and Special Education or Students with Disabilities 7-12.Characteristics Desired: Previous experience with students with academic/social skill deficits or with students with disabilities required. Candidates must be highly organized, flexible, and have effective communication and problem-solving skills. Successful candidates must have a positive, can-do attitude and be committed to the BOCES Mission of Service and Innovation through Partnership.
