Duties: Putnam|Northern Westchester BOCES is anticipating an opening for a Leave Replacement Coordinator of Special Education from August 30, 2024 through December 31, 2024. This position will provide support and oversight to our special education programs and related service providers in areas including, but not limited to:Program development and delivery;Program innovation planning;Program staffing requirements;Student referral tracking;Data interpretation;Program professional development planning;Program marketing and outreach;Identification and creation of new programs and services to meet the needs of our component districts and region.The candidate will also assist the Director of Special Education and program Principals in areas such as: departmental planning, APPR evaluation process, data management, referral management and supervision of programs/staff as needed. They will also assist Special Education supervisors to create operational efficiencies/consistency across the department.Qualifications:Extensive knowledge of Special Education laws and regulations;Experience creating high quality, cost-effective programs and services to meet changing regional needs;Expertise in program development and supervision;Proven ability as a rigorous academic leader involving the common core standards and effective instructional practices for students with disabilities;Be an innovative planner and an effective communicator who has developed positive relationships with colleagues, faculty, staff, students and parents;Administrative experience in a special education leadership position;Degree in special education or a related field and SDA or SDL certification required.Characteristics Desired: Candidates must be highly organized, flexible, and have effective communication and problem-solving skills.
