Position Summary Pleasantville High School is seeking a dynamic, student-focused, and collaborative Assistant Principal to join our leadership team. The ideal candidate is an instructional leader who is committed to building positive relationships, supporting teachers, promoting equity, and ensuring a safe, engaging, and high-quality learning environment. The Assistant Principal will work closely with the Principal to support day-to-day school operations, lead key initiatives, and help advance Pleasantville’s mission and values. Key Responsibilities Instructional Leadership Support curriculum planning, instructional coaching, and data-driven decision-making Observe classrooms and provide constructive, growth-oriented feedback Collaborate with department chairs and instructional teams to promote high standards of teaching and learning Student Support & School Climate Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful school environment Oversee student discipline, restorative practices, attendance, and behavioral interventions Partner with counselors, psychologists, and student support staff to address academic and social-emotional needs School Operations Assist with supervision of daily school procedures, safety protocols, and emergency preparedness Manage scheduling, testing, and coordination of building-wide events and programs, including award ceremonies and graduation Support hiring, onboarding and professional development of staff Supervision of senior internship program Section 504 Plan Chairperson Family & Community Engagement Communicate effectively with parents, families, and community partners Represent Pleasantville High School at school and district events Strengthen partnerships that enhance student experiences and opportunities Qualifications Required: New York State administrative certification (SBL or equivalent) Prior experience in teaching, counseling, or related educational roles Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills Demonstrated leadership experience in a school setting Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging Preferred: Experience with restorative practices, MTSS/RTI, or instructional coaching Familiarity with data-driven school improvement Master schedule development experience Personal Attributes We are seeking a leader who is: Student-centered and relationship-oriented Collaborative and solutions-focused Calm, thoughtful, and consistent in decision-making Passionate about fostering a positive school culture Committed to continuous learning and professional growth Salary & Benefits Salary range, $140,000-175,000, plus full benefits per the Pleasantville Union Free School District’s administrative contract.
