The Peru Central School is seeking a caring and motivated School Counselor to support students in grades PreK-12. This role involves providing counseling services, promoting social-emotional growth, and collaborating with families, staff, and community partners to help students succeed academically and personally.Key Responsibilities: Observe students and evaluate their strengths, needs, and challenges.Provide individual and group counseling to address social, emotional, and academic issues.Develop and teach social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum.Use TCIS (Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools) strategies to maintain a safe, supportive environment.Guide students in college and career planning.Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to support student development.Assist with and maintain accurate records using student management systems (e.g., SchoolTool).Apply knowledge of MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) to identify and address student needs across academic, behavioral, and social-emotional domains.Actively participate in crisis intervention as needed.Other duties per contract Qualifications:NYS certification in school counseling.Strong understanding of IEP processes and special education laws.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.Experience in K-5 or 6-12 educational settings is preferred.Additional Information:Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field.Certification as a School Counselor (or eligibility for certification).Knowledge of TCIS strategies, SEL curriculum development, and MTSS implementation.Familiarity with student management systems (e.g., SchoolTool) for tracking and reporting student data.Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.Compensation: $52,278 - $99,352 - Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
