Duties Include:Carpentry repair work (such as resetting doors, building simple supporting structures or simple cabinets)Routine plumbing and electrical maintenance, repair and installationClearing snowMonitoring and repairing hot water, steam, hot air lines, heating and ventilating systemsKey cutting and lock maintenanceReplacing or repairing stairways, roofing, porch steps, railings, gutters, leaders and flashingsMixing and application of paints, varnishes and stains to exterior and interior surfacesAdditional tasks as requested by the DistrictCandidates should possess the following qualifications:High School Graduate4 years of experience in building and mechanical installation, maintenance or repair workAn Associate’s Degree in Applied Science or possession of a certificate from a post-secondary vocational school in building or mechanical trades may be substituted for 2 years of the work experience described above. (Education beyond secondary level must be from an institution recognized or accredited by the Board of Regents of NYS Dept. of Education)Good knowledge of the tools, techniques and terminology of two or more of building tradesEffective and safe use of tools to perform maintenance and repair workAbility to work from sketches and blueprintsInitiative in completing assigned workDependability and reliabilityGets along well with others and follows written and oral instructionsReads, writes and communicates in English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position.Physical strength and agility—physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position
