Position Title: Coordinator for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)Job Classification: Teacher on Special Assignment (per PTA CBA)Qualifications:A valid NYS Professional Educator Certification; Clinician or School Counselor prefered but not limited toAn established personal commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) within their professional areas of responsibilitySkilled in communication, developing strong interpersonal relationships, and managing conflict; Accessible to students, parents, and staffKnowledge of NYS Culturally Sustaining Responsive Education FrameworkKnowledge of and/or willingness to be trained in best practices related to advancing cultural competence, diversity, equity and inclusion within an educational settingReports to and Evaluated by:Reports to and is evaluated by the Superintendent for this portion of the job.Principal Function:The Coordinator for DEI shall be responsible for supporting the district’s approaches to and activities in Cultural Competence throughout the district as defined by the District’s strategic plan, for implementation of policy pertaining to equity, diversity and inclusion, and devising additional strategies and programs to help achieve district goals.Essential Duties and Responsibilities*:Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendents, Directors, Supervisors and Building Administrators to assess current climate and ensure the development and delivery of training programs for professional and support staff, and students, that provide opportunities for professional and personal growth in all areas related to Cultural CompetenceServe as a liaison for students, parents, and staff with questions or concerns related to issues of diversity, equity and inclusionServe as Chair of the District’s Cultural Competence CommitteeAny other responsibilities as determined by the SuperintendentTo apply, send a letter of interest, current resume and copy of certification to Dr. Cheryl H.
