POSITION: Director of Early College Secondary Programs(Tenure Track Position) CERTIFICATION: New York State (NYS) School Building Administrator (SBA) School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS), School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA) certification. OVERVIEW: The Early College Secondary Programs Director will serve as the liaison between Peekskill CSD, Ossining UFSD, Westchester CC, BOCES, and businesses. The Early College Secondary Programs administrator will supervise the organization of the Early College Secondary programs to enable students to develop competencies and skills that will prepare them for success in higher education and careers. The supervisor will coordinate with staff to monitor and support students in meeting the requirements of the programs. The Early College Secondary Programs Director will support staff and students with appropriate experiences designed to fulfill their maximum potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Duties include building relationships with parents and students, tracking and monitoring Early College and P-TECH student data and required documentation, supporting staff and students in becoming college-ready, supporting counselors in the application process for students enrolling in dual credit college courses, scheduling, monitoring grades and attendance in all courses. QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s degree from an accredited college or university; P-TECH/Early College background or experience with organization of college and careers programs;Candidates must have a satisfactory outcome of the fingerprinting background check;Work-based learning program experience or experience with assisting students to become college-ready. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Monitor and report P-TECH/Early College secondary students’ attendance, schedules, grades, dual credit courses, and related data to ensure students are on track to meet graduation requirements, college degree requirements, and the New York State Education Agency’s P-TECH Blueprint and Outcome-Based Measures required as part of the P-TECH designation;Coordinate and support interventions to assist students in overcoming barriers in meeting their annual requirements and benchmarks to complete the P-TECH program from counseling, administration, teachers, college instructors, college and community partners, and central office departments;Support students and coordinate resources to assist students with meeting college and career readiness outcomes;Lead the scheduling process for PTECH/Early College students;Create recruitment strategies for 8th grades and their parents;Monitor the success of students to help retain the students in the program successfully;Oversee a menu of business industry partners and workforce engagement opportunities, including school-based activities, mentoring, internships, career talks, work-based learning projects, (and) job shadowing;Support staff in implementing instructional strategies that foster collaboration to problem solve through critical thinking, inquiry, and self-advocacy;Collaborate with all stakeholders to support the program recruitment, retention, and outcomes of the program;Ensure the classroom environment is conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students;Participate in staff development and staff meetings and pursue ongoing professional development opportunities;Attend and participate in district-level and faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required;Perform the related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact and diplomacy;Excellent ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, families, district personnel, business partners, and community;Knowledge and skills in NYSED P-TECH Blueprint. Demonstrated ability to prepare students to meet the graduation requirements and beyond;Ability to align course content to accountability industry certification exams and outcome-based measures of the P-TECH blueprint. Knowledge of High School Career and technical and/or Technology as well as associated shifts in pedagogical practice, next-generation assessment, project-based learning, 21st-century learning skills and strategies, technology integration, assessment literacy, and student engagement strategies; Knowledge of industry-related software;Demonstrated ability to market P-TECH pathway information to students, staff, parents, and the business community;Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;Demonstrated ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment;Seek innovative methods of performing the position as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise and collaborate with administrators, and staff and monitor the workflow and reporting of the P-TECH/Early College grant. STARTING DATE: January 2024 (Anticipated) CLOSING DATE: December 12, 2023 SALARY: As per the Peekskill Administrators’ Association (PAA) contract ranging from $140,799-$155,454 annually – Commensurate with experience.
