POSITION: Dual-Certified Secondary Level Special Education Teacher with Additional Content Area(Tenure Track Position) CERTIFICATION/S: NYS Students with Disabilities 7-12 certification required, as well as a content area certification, such as Social Studies 7-12, English 7-12, Mathematics 7-12, or Earth Science 7-12 certification. QUALIFICATION/S: Knowledge and willing to work with all disabilities;Experience with the following:Working with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities preferred;Administering the NYS Alternate Assessment;Using an alternate assessment curriculum;Working as a self-contained Teacher;Teaching Adaptive Living Skills;Post-Secondary planning and transitional services;Knowledge of part 200 regulations;Understanding on how to use IEP Direct is preferred;Desire and knowledge to balance students’ social/emotional and academic/intellectual needs;Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills with parents, staff and students;Desire and ability to work collaboratively with an academic team;Evidence of strong speaking and writing skills;Evidence of strong classroom management with an emphasis on student engagement and student success in the classroom;Commitment to curriculum development, professional development, flexible teamwork, and instructional technology.
