RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides administrative supervision of the K-6 English Language Arts and Social Studies curriculum at the elementary level.Responsible for scheduling, budgeting, staff development, supervision, and evaluation of staff pertinent to his/her departments.Coordinates and/or leads professional development opportunities for staff during departmental meetings and professional development periods.Review and assists with the selection of new K-6 instructional materials.Assists teaching staff with the implementation of new curriculum and instructional materials.Monitors state and national trends and issues in student achievement and student assessment.Coordinates and collaborates with other directors, administrators and lead teachers.Prepares and monitors the instructional program budget for the areas of supervision.Evaluates the effectiveness of instructional programs and recommends revisions and improvements as needed.Coordinates curriculum and assessment development, implementation and revision.Coordinates all staff development with outside consultants for the departments under his/her supervision.Responsible for the oversight of the 3-6 NYS assessments.Assists the Human Resources Department with interviewing and recommending qualified candidates for instructional positions.Serves as the primary contact and liaison with families and the community regarding the areas of Elementary Humanities K-6.Provides materials as needed to support the instructional programs.Represents the district at BOCES coordinator meetings relative to the departments of supervision.Collects necessary data and prepares annual State required reports.Performs other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and Superintendent.
