COMMENTS: Patchogue-Medford school district is seeking interested applicants to teach a Career and Technical Training course on Law Enforcement at Patchogue-Medford High School. The successful candidate will instruct high school juniors and seniors in Criminal Justice, Laws & Courts, Crime Scene Investigations, and Policing. The instructor delivers lessons and laboratory exercises, facilitates visits with outside agencies, and implements a physical fitness regimen that prepares students for a career in law enforcement. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Following curricular documents, prepares lesson plans and lesson activities in Criminal Justice, Laws & Courts, Crime Scene Investigation, and Policing. Delivers rigorous and engaging lessons that inspire and challenge students in the Law Enforcement field. Engages in the course and curricular resources to enhance lessons and provide meaningful experiences for students. Recommends changes to curricular documents and seeks out other resources to enhance the program. Assists in the coordination of guest speakers and visitations with industry professionals. Maintains student records and all necessary documentation for the students in the course. Interfaces with school guidance counselors and administration as necessary. Stays abreast of current events in the area of criminal justice and policing. Monitors student progress and assesses their skills according to standardized measurements. Participates in the development of internships and apprenticeships for students enrolled in the program Ensures that the district’s mission statement is the driving force for all decision-making.
