RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform such duties and functions as related to the area of specialty as requested by the DirectorCoordinate instructional activities within the department under the direction of the DirectorAssist in the development of departmental guidelines and assume the responsibility for the implementation of these guidelinesCoordinate departmental actions within the building and serve as a liaison with other departmentsAssist in the planning and implementation of department PLCsNo teaching duties will be associated with this position, contingent on budget approvalPerform such other tasks and responsibilities as the Director assignsConduct scheduled departmental meetings as assigned by the DirectorAssist in the development of teaching guides, curriculum guides, and course descriptionsMeet with the Director relative to development, implementation, and monitoring of curriculum requirementsAssist in the orientation of teachers regarding departmental policies, including substitute teachersAssist students and parents, as necessary, in understanding departmental procedures; i.e. course requirements, departmental regulationsKeep informed of progress and new developments in field of specialty. Assume responsibility for own professional growth and development, for keeping current with literature and new research findings, and for attending appropriate professional meetingsProvide input to the Director in the preparation of the budget and/or purchase requisitions/staffing/schedulingAssist with the maintenance of facilities and equipmentLiaison between Principal/Director/Assistant Principal/and subject area teachersDisseminate information from Director/Principal/Assistant PrincipalBring concerns from colleagues to Director/Principal/Assistant PrincipalAssist in making student recommendations to the next grade levelFacilitate PDP meetings as assigned by the DirectorMaintain an inventory of supplies, books, and equipmentHandle routine student management matters/parent communications referred by teachers within the departmentSymbolize leadership through attendance at school-sponsored events related to departmentPrepare necessary reports on activities of departmentPerform such additional duties as many be delegated by the immediate supervisor of the Superintendent of SchoolsCoordinate Athletic Physicals, FamilyId student-athlete registration, and update the departments website linksMonitor and track academic achievement to ensure student-athlete eligibility for all athletes and teams REPORTS TO: Department Director and/or Building Principals SALARY: As per PMCT Contract EFFECTIVE: September 2023 Patchogue-Medford Schools is an equal opportunity employer.
