RESPONSIBILITIES:The dean will have responsibilities assigned by the building principal that include, but are not limited to: Promote close working relationships with parents, students and staff Facilitate a climate that is conducive to student learning and development Manage student supervision issues and enforce school code of conduct Counsel students and parents about school and district policies Provide information for development of monitoring student behavior plans Serve as a resource to staff in dealing with classroom management issues Assist in developing programs to promote positive student behavior as well as intervention strategies Coordinate/assist in the planning of parent/student prevention programs and assemblies Provide appropriate recommendations for behavior regarding disciplinary consequences Maintain and analyze student discipline records Provide peer mediation Responsible for implementing restorative justice practices Facilitate teacher-student conferences and parent-teacher conferences Provide assistance/modeling in conflict resolution strategies for teachers during PDP’s Communicate effectively with educational community, parents and supplemental agencies, as necessary (SCPD, CPS workers, AFY/PINS caseworkers and probation officers) Be flexible with working hours, as needed, to conclude school investigations and disciplinary matters Required to attend and present at Superintendent Hearings as applicable Required to generate monthly discipline reports to be reviewed with administration Must be available to meet with administration to analyze, collect, discuss information and data for VADIR/DASA reports Will be required to attend child study teams, manifestation determinations and CSE meetings as required Must be available after hours to chaperone and assist at school events as specified by building leadership Must be available for summer grade level orientation programs for incoming students (dates TBD) Perform other specific job-related duties as directed REPORTS TO: Academic Director/Building Administration/Assistant Superintendent for Instruction SALARY: Salary range in accordance with PMCT contract LOCATION: High School EFFECTIVE: September 2023 EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:All costs associated with these employment requirements are the responsibility of the employee:Fingerprint clearance from the NY State Department of Education (NYSED)Drug ScreeningPhysical Examination Patchogue-Medford Schools is an equal opportunity employer.
