How will you ensure success for every student?COMMENTS: Patchogue-Medford school district is seeking interested applicants to teach a Career and Technical Education course in Cosmetology at Patchogue-Medford High School. Beginning in September of 2023, the successful candidate will instruct high school juniors and seniors in the field of Infection Control, Principles and Practices, Basics of Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, Scalp Care, Shampooing and Conditioning, Hairstyling, Haircutting, Hair Coloring, and Bleaching and Chemical Texture Services, Histology of Skin, Facials and Makeup, Nail Care, Manicuring, Pedicuring, Nail Extensions. The instructor will be responsible for monitoring and recording the skills students demonstrate as they progress through the course and prepare for the New York State Cosmetology license.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Following curricular documents, prepares lesson plans and lesson activities in the field of CosmetologyDelivers rigorous and engaging lessons that inspire and challenge students in the Cosmetology industry.Engages in the course and curricular resources to enhance lessons and provide meaningful experiences for students through cognitive and kinesthetic engagement activities.Recommends changes to curricular documents and seeks out other resources to enhance the program.Assists in the coordination of guest speakers and visitations with industry professionals.Participate in work-based learning opportunities that provide students mandated field hours for licensing exam.Maintains student records and all necessary documentation for the students in the course.Interfaces with school guidance counselors and administration, as necessary.Stays abreast of current events in cosmetology and appearance enhancement.Monitors student progress and assesses their skills according to standardized measurements.Develop, administer, and evaluate assessments in cosmetology.Participates in developing internships and apprenticeships for students enrolled in the program.Ensures that the district’s mission statement is the driving force for all decision-making.Prepares students for industry-recognized assessments that lead to certifications cosmetology.
