Anticipated Administrative Vacancy Director of Special ServicesEffective July 1, 2026 The Oyster Bay – East Norwich Central School District is seeking an outstanding, visionary leader who will be responsible for coordinating and directing the special services office. The successful candidate will be a collaborative, student-centered educational leader with strong knowledge of special education law and best practices. The candidate will demonstrate sound professional judgment, effective communication skills, the ability to lead and support staff, and a commitment to equity, compliance, and continuous program improvement. The successful candidate should possess personal and professional leadership qualities that include the following:A strong commitment to inclusive, equitable, and student-centered special education practices.Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, staff, families, and external agencies.Thorough knowledge of Part 200 Regulations, IDEA, Section 504 and State Reporting requirements with the ability to ensure districtwide compliance.Experience chairing CSE and CPSE meetings.Sound professional judgment and ethical decision-making, with a high level of integrity and confidentiality.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to navigate complex or sensitive situations with clarity and professionalism.Proven leadership skills that support, develop, and supervise staff while fostering a positive and solution-focused work environment.Commitment to continuous professional growth and staying current with best practices in special education.
