Orange-Ulster BOCES is seeking applicants for an open Instructional Specialist position in the Division of Instructional Support Services (ISS). ISS employs a dynamic team of educators that work to bring the best to all students, educators, and families in the Orange-Ulster BOCES service region. The Instructional Specialist will support, train, and guide teachers, librarians, administrators, and other school staff to use innovative methods to effectively bring the curriculum and student learning alive. The Instructional Specialist will be responsible for developing and teaching professional development workshops in their curriculum area, leading interdisciplinary workshops, coaching teachers on how to best use content area and instructional technology in the classroom, running curriculum meetings, leading curriculum development projects, collaborating with other staff developers and teaching content/subject area workshops. Candidates must have extensive experience supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion in school settings. The ideal candidate will be organized, tech-savvy, have broad teaching and presentation experience, able to work as a member of a team, have knowledge of methods for supporting students (Ells, SWDs, high-performing, etc.) in the content /subject areas, have content area/subject expertise, and have excellent interpersonal skills.All candidates must hold valid and appropriate NYS teacher certification. All certification areas are acceptable. We are especially interested in candidates who are dually certified (ESOL and a subject) and/or candidates holding ESOL, Math 7-12, Physics 7-12, Biology 7-12, Literacy 1<-12, Social Studies 7-12, Art 7-12, Music 7-12, Childhood 1-6, Early Childhood N-2, Bilingual Extensions, and School District Leader/School District Administrator.
