CiTi BOCES is currently seeking a certified Special Education Teacher, preferably with experience teaching at the middle school level. As a special education teacher in a middle school day treatment program, you will provide specialized instruction and support to a small group of students with very high needs in most or all needed areas, including academic, social and/or interpersonal development, physical development, and management. You will work collaboratively with 1 full-time paraprofessional, a behavior support professional, a clinician, administrator, clinical program manager and other related service providers to create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for your students. You will also implement individualized education plans (IEPs), monitor student progress, and communicate with families and other stakeholders.Responsibilities:Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs): Collaborate with other educators, parents, and specialists to create and implement IEPs tailored to each student’s unique requirements.Instructional Planning and Delivery:Design and deliver engaging lessons aligned with state standards and IEP goals.Adapt instructional strategies to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring:Regularly assess student progress using formative and summative assessments.Maintain accurate records of student performance and growth.Adjust teaching methods based on assessment data.Behavioral Support:Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as needed.Collaborate with behavioral support staff to ensure student needs are being met. Promote positive behavior and social-emotional development.Collaboration and Communication:Work closely with clinical and behavioral staff who support the mental health and behavioral needs in the program.Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and strategies.Professional Development:Stay informed about best practices in special education and mental health. Attend workshops, conferences, and training sessions to enhance skills.Qualifications:NYS Certification: Hold a valid New York State certification in Special Education.Experience: Previous teaching experience, especially in middle school or similar settings, is preferred.Knowledge and Skills:Familiarity with IEP development and implementation.Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.Strong classroom management and behavior management skills.Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
