This position requires effective collaboration with classroom teachers, school counselors, administration, and other school personnel. The Behavior Specialist may provide staff development for school personnel and attend professional development opportunities to stay current in the field. Knowledge of and/or experience with restorative practices, TCI-S or similar crisis prevention and intervention systems are preferred.The Behavior System Specialist will participate as an active member of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plan (FBA/BIP) development teams, as well as supporting the implementation of the plans and gathering of data. The Behavior System Specialist will provide crisis support to students as needed. There may be other duties as assigned by the Program Principal. Qualifications: Certification as a School Counselor, School Social Worker or School Psychologist in New York StateExperience working in Alternative Education Programs or Special Education Programs for behaviorally challenged studentsExperience dealing with students in crisis and managing the crisis cycleKnowledge and/or experience with tiered intervention systems, restorative practice, TCI-S or similar crisis prevention and intervention systems, and Applied Behavior AnalysisAbility to work in a team management approachAbility to lead teams and professionally present information across programs and districtsStrong organizational skills with attention to details, timelines, and follow-throughPrevious applicants need not apply
