Claremont Elementary School is seeking a collaborative, student-centered, and instructional leader to serve as Assistant Principal. The ideal candidate will partner with the Principal to cultivate a joyful, inclusive learning community where every child is challenged, supported, and inspired to achieve their highest potential. The Assistant Principal will lead with integrity, foster meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families, and use data-informed decision making to improve teaching and learning. This leader will support high-quality instruction, continuous professional growth, and equitable outcomes for all students while helping oversee the daily operations of one of the district's largest and most diverse elementary schools. Responsibilities: Instructional Leadership Lead instructional improvement through classroom observations, coaching, and feedback. Analyze student achievement, growth, and benchmark data to inform instructional decisions. Facilitate PLCs, Kid Talk meetings, and MTSS processes. Support implementation of district curriculum and evidence-based instructional practices. Partner with teacher leaders to design meaningful professional learning. Support Dual Language, ENL, AIS, and Special Education programming. Promote equitable, culturally responsive teaching practices. School Operations Supervise daily building operations, including arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and special events. Coordinate safety drills, emergency preparedness, and crisis response. Assist with staffing, hiring, onboarding, evaluation, and mentoring. Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal requirements. Assist with scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. Student Success & Well-Being Foster a positive, inclusive school climate grounded in restorative practices. Lead behavioral support systems and student discipline with a restorative approach. Collaborate with counselors, psychologists, social workers, and teachers to develop intervention plans. Support PBIS and attendance initiatives and student engagement. Promote student leadership opportunities and celebrate student achievement. Family & Community Partnerships Build trusting relationships with families through responsive communication. Partner with families to support student learning and well-being. Coordinate family engagement opportunities and school events. Represent Claremont in district and community initiatives. Leadership & Collaboration Serve as a collaborative member of the building leadership team. Help implement the school's vision, goals, and improvement initiatives. Model professionalism, reflective practice, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Build a positive culture that values collaboration, innovation, and shared leadership. Qualifications Experience as an educator as well as leadership roles. Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and fostering a culturally responsive school environment. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, families, staff, and community members. Valid administrative certification or equivalent, as required by New York State Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
