Brookside School is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic and innovative Assistant Principal who contributes to instructional leadership and daily operations of a student-centered and teacher-supportive school community. The ideal candidate is committed to instructional excellence and to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for both students and staff. The Assistant Principal is expected to work collaboratively with all stakeholders, and to promote high expectations for academic growth and social-emotional development of children. The Assistant Principal must have solid leadership skills, demonstrate a strong understanding of pedagogical knowledge, and practice with a commitment to student achievement. Responsibilities: Instructional Leadership: Support the Principal in implementing a rigorous and engaging curriculum aligned with state standards Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers. Assist in analyzing student performance data to drive instructional improvements school-wide and specific to classrooms Collaborate with lead teachers to design and deliver professional development that is data-driven and enhances instructional practice Assist in the assessment and analysis of student data to drive instructional decisions and interventions through MTSS Assist in the supervision of MTSS inclusive of academic intervention services. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, where both students and staff are encouraged to take risks and learn from challenges Assist in the development of schoolwide policies, decision making and procedures School Operations: Help manage daily school operations, including scheduling and supervision of staff and students, inclusive of lunch/recess areas Ensure a safe and orderly school climate Assist with administrative and restorative response to any behavioral incidents, and follow-through as necessary Participate in hiring, onboard and mentoring of staff, inclusive of Support Staff such as Teaching Assistants, Aides and Monitors Support the principal in budgeting resources effectively to support student learning and provide enrichment opportunities Ensure compliance with district policies, state regulations and federal guideline Execute emergency response protocols and safety plans as needed Family & Community Engagement Build strong relationships with families and caregivers Maintain and uphold communication between school and home Participate in school events and community outreach efforts Respond to parent inquiries and concerns in a timely manner Represent the school at community events and engage in activities that promote school involvement Student-Centered Focus: Promote a positive school climate Participate on and contribute to the school’s Culture of Care team Collaborate with clinicians, teachers and support staff to develop individualized plans for students who need additional support SEL and behavioral support Actively engage with students in leadership opportunities and at any school e vents Qualifications: Experience as an educator as well as leadership roles Strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and fostering a culturally responsive school environment. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, families, staff, and community members. Valid administrative certification or equivalent, as required by New York State Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
