The Ossining School District is in need of a Science Research Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and qualified teacher to co-direct our award-winning, and nationally recognized Science Research in the High School (SRHS) program, offering University at Albany (UAlbany) credit. The ideal candidate will meet the UAlbany in the High School credential requirements.Qualifications:The candidate must hold a New York State teaching certification in science for grades 7-12, and a master’s degree in a science-related field, demonstrating their advanced knowledge and expertise necessary for teaching high school science research courses. The candidate must meet, or plan to meet, the UAlbany in the High School credential requirements, ensuring they are qualified to offer college credit to students through the University at Albany program.The candidate should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering a collaborative and supportive educational environment.Proficiency in using technology in the classroom is essential, as the candidate will be expected to integrate various digital tools and resources to enhance the learning experience and facilitate research activities.The candidate should have experience with project-based learning and hands-on lab activities, which are crucial for providing students with practical, real-world applications of scientific concepts.The candidate must maintain regular contact with other teachers in the program to share best practices, resources, and support each other in delivering high-quality science education.The candidate must conduct appropriate student assessment sessions, meeting one-on-one with each student every two weeks to review their progress and provide personalized feedback and support.The candidate should meet with summer students at least once during the summer to check on their progress, providing ongoing support and preparing them for the upcoming academic year.This position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire and guide students in their scientific research endeavors, helping them gain valuable skills and college credit through the UAlbany program.
