TITLE: Director of Student ServicesREPORTS TO: Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction and the Superintendent of SchoolsSUPERVISES: Departmental staff including related service providers DUTIES: The Director of Student Services is directly responsible to the Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services for all matters under his/her jurisdiction. Qualifications: SDL or its equivalent, strong knowledge of special education regulations, experience servicing as a special education chairperson and/or administrator preferred, excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to form trusting relationships with all stakeholders.PRIMARY Responsibilities Under the Direction of the Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services: Organizes and supervises the district’s extended school year (ESY) services for students with special education needs. This program is run during July and August for 30 calendar days.Provides leadership to the counseling team including school counselors and social workers through regular meetings and school visits.In collaboration with the Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services, oversees the development and revisions of the school district’s counseling plan.Acts as a chairperson for Committee on Special Education and Preschool Special Education, as well as Section 504, as needed.Reviews IEPs and Section 504 plans for compliance prior to finalization.Evaluates staff as assigned.Oversees the district’s student support service programs including but not limited to the GED program, incarcerated youth, tutoring services, and general education behavioral program.Supervises and coordinates the district’s student support services including but not limited to the behavior coaches, translation and interpreting services, assignment of teaching assistants, nursing, and therapeutic crisis intervention.Participates in district committees such as the Code of Conduct Committee, Safety Committee, and Strategic Planning.10. Acts as the district’s DASA Coordinator, Title 9 Officer, and McKinney Vento Liaison.11. Assists the Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services in carrying out other activities related to the administration of the school district.12. In collaboration with the Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services, provide support to administrators and teachers in ensuring access to grade-level curriculum for students with disabilities.13. Contributes to the development of staff development and in-service programs.14. Works cooperatively with administrators, staff members, and parents to achieve district goals and foster student success.Performs other administrative and supervisory duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Education and Student Services.
