The Director of Health, Physical Education, and Athletics is responsible for all matters relating to the implementation and support of the health, physical education, athletics and wellness programs District wide.This includes, but is not limited to:• recruitment of and recommendation for hiring staff and coaches;• ensuring proper credentialing of all athletic coaches,• supervision and evaluation of coaches and other staff,• overseeing the physical education, health and athletics programs and budgets;• facilitating and supporting District wide health and wellness programs;• overseeing the development and implementation of curricula in related areas;• collaborating with community organizations;• developing and submitting accurate reports at the District and State level;• collecting and analyzing data to evaluate program implementation to drive improvement;• researching instructional best practices;• developing and/or delivering appropriate professional development opportunities for staff and administrators• active member of the District's Health & Wellness Committee• attending relevant section, league, regional, state meetings.REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction QUALIFICATIONS:• New York State School District Leader (SOL) or School District Administrator (SDA) Certification• New York State certification in health and/or physical education• Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in either health or physical education• Minimum 5 years administrative experience at building or district level - preferred)• Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, coaches, parents,administrators and the community• Ability to lead, organize and manage a multi-faceted program• Successful experience as an athletic coach or administrator• Demonstrated success as a Physical Education Teacher (preferred)• Prior demonstration of exemplary attendance is expected of any candidate for hire.• Training and/or experience with Culturally Relevant Education (preferred)
