Position Summary The Oceanside Union Free School District is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and student-centered School Counselor to join the Oceanside High School counseling department. The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive school counseling program that supports students' academic achievement, social-emotional well-being, and college and career readiness while partnering with families, faculty, administrators, and community agencies. Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling to support students' academic, social-emotional, and career development. Assist students with academic planning, graduation requirements, and post-secondary planning. Guide students and families through the college application and career exploration processes. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, school psychologists, social workers, and outside agencies to support student success. Participate in student support team meetings, crisis response, and intervention planning. Monitor student progress and maintain accurate counseling records in accordance with district and state requirements. Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable learning environment for all students. Perform other duties as assigned by the building administration. Qualifications Required New York State School Counselor Certification. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, faculty, and staff. Commitment to supporting the academic, social-emotional, and post-secondary success of all students. Preferred Experience working with high school students. Knowledge of college admissions, NCAA eligibility, financial aid, and career readiness planning. Experience using student information systems and college planning platforms.
