Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Certification(s) Required: New York State Certification as Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (All Grades) Additional Certification(s) Preferred: • Students with Disabilities (All Grades) • Experience working with students who use a variety of communication modalities (spoken language, ASL, total communication) • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams The Oceanside School District is seeking a qualified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to support students with hearing loss across district programs. The successful candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Providing direct and/or consultative services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing • Collaborating with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families • Supporting students’ communication, language, and academic development • Assisting in the implementation of appropriate accommodations and assistive listening technology • Participating in IEP meetings and maintaining required documentation Strong collaboration skills and experience working within a multidisciplinary team are preferred.
