Duties: Responsible for implementation and support of Local Area Network Equipment and applications residing on a network. Duties include installations, troubleshooting/repair, and upgrade of PCs, notebook computers, tablets, and other Local Area Network clients, equipment and software. Knowledge of servers and communications equipment such as routers, hubs, switches, and wiring a plus. Successful candidates will be assigned to the Food Service Department. Travel is required. Candidates must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, be able to multitask, and work comfortably with district personnel. Qualifications: Promotional: Two (2) years of permanent competitive class status in the title of PC Support Specialist, Computer Equipment Maintenance Specialist, or Telecommunications Network Technician. Open-Competitive: Graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with a baccalaureate degree in computer science or closely related field and one (1) year work experience in LAN software installation, support and maintenance OR graduation from a regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university with an associates degree in computer science or closely related field and three (3) years work experience in LAN software installation, support and maintenance OR, five (5) years of full-time work experience in LAN software installation, support and maintenance. This is a competitive class civil service position. Candidates must be reachable on the existing eligibility list. If there is no mandated eligible list, candidates will be considered for provisional appointment. Continued employment will be contingent on successfully passing the required examination and being reachable on the Local Area Network Technical Support Specialist eligibility list.
