OCM BOCES Instructional Support Services is seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our team as a school counselor in our Youth Development Department.In this multifaceted role, the selected candidate will play a pivotal part in fostering positive relationships between home instructors, the school community, and various school districts. As a crucial link between these entities, they will contribute to creating a supportive and enriching educational environment.Primary Responsibilities:Home Instructor Liaison:Act as a bridge between home instructors and the organization or institution they are affiliated with.Foster effective communication and collaboration to ensure a seamless connection between home-based education and institutional goals.Provide support and resources to home instructors, addressing any concerns or challenges they may encounter.Facilitate regular meetings and check-ins to maintain a strong and supportive relationship between home instructors and the organization.School Counselor Round Table Discussions:Organize and facilitate round table discussions among school counselors to share best practices, innovative strategies, and challenges faced in their roles.Collaborate with fellow counselors to identify and implement effective counseling programs that address the diverse needs of students.Encourage a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the counseling department.Compile and share valuable insights from round table discussions to enhance overall counseling services.Community Liaison:Establish and maintain strong relationships with different school districts, community organizations, and relevant stakeholders.Identify community resources and opportunities that can benefit students and families, and coordinate their integration into the school environment.Collaborate with community partners to develop and implement programs that support the overall well-being and academic success of students.Qualifications:Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field.NYS certification as a School Counselor.Demonstrated experience in working with home instructors and fostering positive relationships.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to organize and facilitate round table discussions among counseling professionals.Knowledge of community resources and the ability to effectively connect students and families with appropriate services.Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive school culture.If you are passionate about making a positive impact on students' lives and building collaborative relationships within the community, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
