TITLE: ASL Specialist - Leave ReplacementDATES: January 5, 2026 - May 1, 2026SALARY: Per the Fanwood Teachers Association contract. $63,187 - $124,998 (prorated)TO APPLY: Email cover letter and resume to employment@nysd.net or apply online at www.olasjobs.orgMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Teach ASL students at various grade levelsAssess communication needs of students; write assessment reports; propose strategies for improved communication; work with teachers to implement strategiesParticipate as assigned in multidisciplinary evaluations of incoming students as a specialist in ASL/sign communicationParticipate as a member of the instructional teamProvide ongoing, effective, and professional communication with parents/guardians and school staff Serve as an educational resource person on issues related to deaf studies, ASL, and communication Comply with all state and federal laws, school policies, and proceduresMaintain student confidentialityPerform other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the administrationQUALIFICATIONS:Master's degree in Deaf Education (or related field) with coursework related to ASL, Linguistics, Deaf Studies NY State Certification or eligibility to become certified Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience preferred Ability to communicate fluently with students, school staff and parents using American Sign Language and written EnglishExcellent interpersonal skills with interest in and ability to work as part of a team Experience working with deaf children and/or youth Ability to work a flexible schedule
