Nyack Public Schools is seeking candidates who have NYS certification for a full-time elementary Reading Specialist position for the 2023-24 school year.Role Description:Reading Specialists provide leadership for the school’s entire literacy program by creating and maintaining a long-term staff development process that supports both the development and implementation of the literacy program at a Tier 1 level. In addition, coaches support the Early Literacy Initiative by working with primary teachers and students.This process will establish a culture that embraces collaboration as an asset and develops individual and group capacities to engage in creative problem solving and self-reflection. These partnerships, as part of a professional learning community, provide opportunities for all teachers to grow as professionals and, in so doing, improve instructional outcomes for students.• Support all teachers and students with materials, resources, and district requirements• Provide early math supports to students• Model lessons in classrooms across the school building• Analyze student work• Help implement the curricula• Be a liaison between teachers and administration• Conduct data analysis (state testing as well as data wall information) and create data presentations and reports for administration• Facilitate bi-weekly planning with teams (PD time)• Provide individual teacher support as needed• Support District Initiatives • Facilitate professional development sessions• Support all teachers with lessons in the classroom, time management, scheduling, and student grouping• Give feedback on classroom structures and instructional strategies• Conduct short-term collaborative cycles with individual teachers, groups or grade levels• Foster Professional Learning Communities• Co-create curricula and lead ELA curriculum teams• Teach primary students in push in and pull out capacity (for about one hour per day)• Assess students per individual requests, RTI, or progress monitoring needs• Participate as active members of the RTI team/process• Consult with reading specialists concerning AIS caseload and students on watch• Facilitate and plan for state testing (NYS ELA, Field tests, and Computer Based Testing)Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.
