The North Syracuse Central School District is seeking applicants to fill the position of Director of Pupil Personnel Services.Please provide letters of recommendationPOSITION - Administrator Director of Pupil Personnel Services Reports To: Superintendent of SchoolsSupervises: District special education staffLocation: District OfficeQualifications: NYS certification as a School District Administrator (SDA) and/or School District Leader (SDL)Description:The Director of Pupil Personnel Services is responsible for overseeing the District’s Pre-K through 12 Special Education programming and 504 plans. This includes the supervision of Federal Grants, student services and additional support programs for students with diverse learning needs within the district’s Pre K-12 programming and general and special education out-of-district placements. Additionally, this position has shared responsibility for chairing SERT, CPSE, and CSE meetings as well as supervising Pre-K, Elementary, and Secondary special education staff, including the Director of Special Education - Elementary and Director of Special Education - Secondary.Key Responsibilities: Plans and implements program goals and objectives for the special education program, Pre-K-12th grade, while maintaining an awareness of current laws, policies, and regulations pertaining to specific programs. This includes in-district and external placements. Applies current research and techniques to ensure that all individuals with exceptional needs are appropriately identified, assessed, and provided with appropriate educational programs and services designed to meet their unique needs. Represents the District in legal proceedings and participates in IEP meetings, discussions, informal conferences, mediations, and due process hearings to resolve issues regarding special education students. Develops and maintains liaison with appropriate governmental agencies and relevant community groups and remains current on special education legislation. Recommends and manages the budget for special education programs. Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to special education. Performs regular program reviews and recommends changes in program administration, methodology, curriculum and/or procedures as necessary. Assigns and schedules special education personnel. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of Federal Grants 611 & 619. Participates in the selection of personnel for the Special Education Department. Oversees professional development for special education personnel. Disseminates information regarding special education to staff, students, parents, and the community. Analyzes and secures contracted services and provides oversight. Oversee the implementation of Section 504 procedures, throughout the District, including the coordinating of referrals, evaluations and annual reviews. Supervises TOSAs - Behavior, IEP, and UPK. Assist with various district-level functions determined by the Superintendent of Schools.Note: Job specifications are subject to change as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of Schools. Terms of Employment:Twelve (12) months, NS Academic Directors Association affiliated position.
