The North Syracuse Central School District is seeking applicants to fill the position of Director of Diverse Learning and Instructional Support located at the Administrative Office Building.Annual Salary - $127,210 - 150,022 - Depending on experienceNYS School District Leader certification is requiredPlease provide current letters of recommendation.Position Description: The Director of Diverse Learning and Instructional Support is responsible for assisting instructional staff with support in planning instruction and/or adapting the instructional program to facilitate student learning, with a focus on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).The Director of Diverse Learning and Instructional Support shares responsibility for conducting APPR evaluations for instructional staff.The Director of Diverse Learning and Instructional Support reports to the Associate Superintendent for Teaching and Learning.Key Responsibilities:Supervisory/Evaluative Responsibilities: Social Workers ADA-PEP Counselors Counselors Student Assistance Counselor Building DASA Coordinators1. K-12 SEL Instructional Program Utilize data to help Teachers, Social Workers, ADA-PEP, and Counselors identify and group children who need interventions. Assist instructional staff in developing and implementing developmentally appropriate social/emotional and cognitive skills for their students. Provide professional learning in suicide safety, education and prevention, parent forums, mental health literacy. Administer the BIMAS (Behavior Intervention Monitoring Assessment System). Act as a liaison to the County Mental Health office. Activate Crisis Team.2. District DEI Coordinator Facilitate DEI Committee. Lead DEI training. Support District in addressing concerns regarding harassment, discrimination, racism, and bigotry as appropriate. Work collaboratively with Instructional Directors to develop curriculum utilizing the NYS Culturally-Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework as a guide. Promote a welcoming and inclusive environment for all district community members.3. District DASA Coordinator Provide annual DASA Training to Building DEI Coordinators. Monitor and Coordinate Building Response to DASA Complaints. Investigate and support DASA investigations when directed by Superintendent. Actively maintain knowledge of laws and policies related to the Dignity for all Students Act.4. Additional duties and committees as assigned by the SuperintendentQualifications: NYS CAS District-Level Certification. Master’s or doctoral degree in education, psychology, social work, sociology, or a related field. Extensive experience in education, with a focus on social-emotional learning and DEI. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of current research and best practices in SEL and DEI. Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Experience in program evaluation and data-driven decision-making. Knowledge of Diversity Equity Inclusion literature.The Director of Diverse Learning and Instructional Support plays a crucial role in fostering a positive school climate, enhancing student well-being, and ultimately contributing to the academic success of students within the school district.
