The North Syracuse Central School District is seeking applications for a TOSA - Elementary Instructional Coach/Dean of Students. JOB DESCRIPTIONS BELOW:NSCSD Elementary Instructional CoachJob DescriptionPosition description:The Elementary Instructional Coach will support staff in all areas of instruction. The coach is responsible for bringing evidence-based practices into classrooms by working with and supporting teachers and administration with the goal of increasing student engagement, improving student achievement and building teacher capacity. Their primary role is to work with teachers to support best teaching practices using data to inform practice and monitor student growth. Coaches also provide building and district professional development to teachers and administrators as well as assist with curricular decisions and co-facilitate building level data meetings. Instructional coaches are the “lead learners” around ELA, Math and SEL and are expected to build their knowledge in these core areas.Reporting:The Instructional Coach is supervised by the Director of Elementary Education. Coaches will be assigned to a building(s) and principals will coordinate and supervise schedules. Coaches are expected to work closely with building administration to support district and building initiatives.Responsibilities and duties* may include (but are not limited to):Building and fostering positive relationships with staff that will enhance professional collaboration Assisting with all aspects of implementing Amplify CKLAGuide, model and assist teachers in the full and ongoing implementation of all District initiatives and/or programsDemonstrate exemplary instruction, feedback and support through: observation, coaching, model lessons, collaborative lesson planning, and small and large group professional developmentCo-facilitating and analyzing student diagnostic, screening, progress monitoring and outcome assessment data, in conjunction with building AIS teachers.Providing professional development for appropriate NSCSD staffContinuous learning/leading of scientifically based research on best practices in all core contents Participating in various building and/or district-level teams and committeesAttend and be an equal contributing member, all Collaborative Team Meetings (CTM’s). Assist teachers and teams with diagnosing individual student weaknesses and matching these areas of need with appropriate strategies, resources and interventions at the Tier I-II level. Attend regular meetings/planning sessions with Director of Elementary EducationTypically follows the elementary teacher workday schedule (8:30-4:00). Hours may be flexed, with supervisor or principal pre-approval (not to exceed 37.5 hours per week)Work up to 20 additional days during the summer when mutually agreed upon between coach and supervisor. Professional growth opportunities will be provided to build content knowledge and best practices in literacy as well as professional learning focused on fostering adult relationships and leading adult learning. Coaches will also focus efforts on Tier I literacy implementation (new ELA program), Universal Screening/data meetings (AIMSwebPlus) and Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading & Spelling (LETRS).Instructional coaches will continue supporting Literacy Initiatives and begin shifting focus and learning to math, SEL and restorative practices.Instructional coaches will work with the Director of Elementary education to determine future goals and learning. Elementary (K-4) Dean of Students.5 TOSAPosition description:The Elementary Dean of Students is a Teacher On Special Assignment (TOSA) responsible for supporting students & staff at the elementary level. This position is designed to support teachers and building administration with managing Tier II-III student behaviors and acting as a liaison for students in crisis. The Dean will also work closely with the building principal supporting building and district initiatives and assisting with the day to day operations of the building.
