The Niskayuna Central School District has an opening and is now accepting applications for a Teaching Assistant. ASSIGNMENT: Hillside Elementary School; Special Education Department; 28.75 hour per week QUALIFICATIONS: New York State Teaching Assistant Certification preferred. Exceptional candidates without certification will be considered for employment as a Substitute Teaching Assistant (for a maximum of 40 school days) until certification is obtained. Minimum requirements for certification include: • High school diploma or equivalent • New York State Assessment of Teaching Assistant Skills (ATAS) test • Completion of workshops in: Child Abuse Identification, School Violence, and Dignity for All Students (DASA).NOTE: Selected applicant will be subject to a fingerprint supported criminal history background check in accordance with SAVE Legislation effective July 1, 2001.
